Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort

Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort is 39KM from Miri town. They have quite a lot of facilities, especially for team building, etc...
... Wet Postman walk. I have not seen anyone walking across the rope successfully...
... Main entrance to the resort hotel.
The top floor is private residence. 5th floor is for offices.Bottom 4 floors are for hotel guests.
One of the chalets
You don't need to stay there overnight in order to visit the place. You could just pop in early in the morning and pay RM75/person for a day trip. This includes meals, tea and tour. For children, it would be cheaper.

Snake on tree, Peacock, etc

There are many different animals in Borneo Rain Forest Resort.
... the peacock...
A snake sticking on a tree and upside down!
We met a group of students from Brunei. Welcome to Miri! All photos had been posted on my facebook. Click here.

Macro Photography ...

Ok, macro photography to me means that I have been taking more pictures of tiny creatures. So here they are:
This bug is barely 10mm in size.

A spider? Looks like a robot from another planet. But no, it is a spider because it spins web! It was tiny, perhaps also 10mm across. But very colourful.
This time, I manage to get a clear shot of this tiny dragon fly. The body is probably about 8mm.
Ok, this time I used a new 105mm lens from Nikon. It was one of those super fast and accurate lens using silence wave motor.

Beautiful Miri

I like Miri... a place that is not too big nor too small. I could get most things I need. Worse, I just order them through the mail. One thing for sure, I dare not compare it with Sibu when prepared food is concerned. It is so expensive here.
I like the beach... especially the sunset....
... and the park where there are plenty of flowers.

美里是个好地方,
风光美丽像天堂,
世外桃园无数个,
热带雨林数第一。

Find me please ...

Jungle lizards are master in camouflage. They can blend themselves with the environment until they are almost invisible. Just look at these two lizards...

Enjoy ...

Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort

Some night scene taken during my recent trip... enjoy!
Resort main building entrance ...

... hope you have enjoyed my photos of the resort.

Spiders ... spiders...

I just realised that there are many very colourful spiders in the wild. But beware, they can be aggressive or even pretend to be so... anyway, they may be poisonous!
This one is big... at least 10 cm across ...
Hello ...

"Ok, now I review myself! I am the fearsome looking one!"
This is the earth tiger tarantula. Quite big... probably about 10cm also. I annoyed him and he decided to come out to see who was the bad fellow disturbing his peace in the hole!

Something less fearsome ...

Ok, for a change, I post this flower for your enjoyment....
I remember this flower used to be very common but now, it is seldom seen. Maybe because the plant can grow to a great height. Whatever, the flower looks good.

Graceful butterflies

I have never really tried shooting macro before and this has proven to be much harder than I thought. The wasted shot is about 80% and probably only 2% is of any quality which I think can be used for display!
Shoot something that move or when it was windy made the project even more challenging. I called butterfly "hyperactive" as they move really fast and very shy. They don't stay still for more than a few seconds. Anyway, enjoy this one... the beauty of nature.
I like this butterfly most... it could pretend that it was dead! I caught it and put on my hand. It was as if it was dead! It won't move at all.

Fearsome encounter ...

This fellow is tiny compare to the size of human. But look at its aggressive nature... it was getting ready to attack!
Click on the picture for a larger photo.

What do you think it is? Again no prize for getting it right because I have many very knowledgeable readers!

Sunset this evening

This evening, the sun was red and round! I wasn't too sure what was the cause until ...
I reached Lutong beach. I saw a black layer of smog ... more burning from a distance land. So, the sun lost its brightness again. We had a heavy rain few days ago but this rain was only for Miri. When can the burning end!

Courting ...

I came across these two crickets...
See what the cricket at the bottom is doing...

Tropical Rain Forest

A rain forest through my Hasselblad... enjoy!

Sunset
... didn't realise that part of the sky on the tree side is actually brighter!?
A paradise ...

Sweet sweet beds...

This is a picture of the bedroom taken at the resort.
Taken using my Hasselblad.

Journey into wonderland

The special effect from this picture was not planned at all. However, it gave the impression that I was walking into an unknown dreamland...
Anyone like to guess how was it taken? Or just tell me whether you like it or not. Again, I will review the technique on April Fool day.
There is no post prosessing to the picture! It was exactly as per taken.

Black beauty of the wild

I saw this super shy black beauty in the wild! It is highly poisonous. It is staying in a hole lined with "gold"! Anyone like to guess what is this and how this picture was taken? No prize but I will let you know the answer on April fool day.

Hope you enjoy this shot!
By the way, this photo is taken on my Hasselblad without any retouch.

Exhausting and Busy Weekend

I had been very busy over the weekend. I should say that I was completely exhausted after a long photo shooting away from town. Having to carry my D3 and Hassy plus an assortment of lens was really no fun. Just these two cameras along already weigh some 5KG! Plus a sturdy tripod ... my back almost broke. I had never sweated so much in my whole life!
Anyway, this is one of the shots! Hope you like it. I will not be posting many photos this time until, perhaps until end of this month.
Three ladies I met during the night walk.
Forgot his name, a Foochow, who served me breakfast!
A friendly face amongst the flower.
Stanley, an Iban educated in a Chinese medium school and can speak fluent Mandarin and can understand foochow. He showed me around.
p/s: None of these photos had been retouched.
